[Bangkok Hotel Review] The StandardX, Bangkok Phra Arthit (Pros & Cons)
Here’s a quick staycation note from my recent trip to Bangkok! I checked out The StandardX, Bangkok Phra Arthit, a brand-new art-centric property right along the river.
If you're curious about what it's like staying at this colorful, renovated boutique hotel, here is my honest breakdown of the hits and misses.
What I Loved
Zero Japanese guests: I didn't run into a single Japanese traveler during my stay, which made the experience feel super authentic and nicely tucked away.
Sleep quality: The bed was amazingly comfy—definitely passed the sleep test with flying colors!
Fresh & clean: Even though it's a renovated property, everything inside feels immaculate and crisp.
Well-behaved AC: Tropical hotel air conditioners can be unpredictable, but this one maintained a perfectly comfortable climate without turning the room into a freezer.
Art everywhere: The entire hotel is packed with vibrant contemporary art. Just walking through the hallways is a feast for the eyes.
Prime location: Tons of delicious local eats, cozy cafes, and convenience stores are just steps away.
Top-notch hospitality: The staff across the hotel and dining spots were exceptionally warm and welcoming.
Good to Know (The Cons)
River vibes: Since it's right by the water, you'll hear the faint hum of passing boats.
Shower pressure: The water pressure was acceptable, but just barely made the pass.
Not barrier-free: Expect a fair amount of steps and level changes throughout the property.
Basic breakfast: The morning spread covers the bare essentials. If you're paying extra for it, it might feel a little underwhelming.
Local morning alarm: It's set right inside a real neighborhood, so you’ll hear the local life waking up—including roosters crowing early in the morning! (Don't worry, earplugs are provided in the room).
Final Thoughts
If you enjoy immersion in local flavor, love modern art, and don't mind a little morning rooster wake-up call, this spot is definitely worth a visit.
